 Undersea, I 48 x 60 inches Oil on Canvas

Judith Goldsmith - Undersea Series

Artist’s Statement:

“The undersea world is the organizing thought for these new paintings, which take their rhythms and color, in part, from the fantastically complex life beneath the seas and oceans.

None of this is depicted in any literal way, of course, since the work is abstract, but even within this idiom there is always a starting point, whether it's pattern and color, something from the visual, material world or a non-visual idea, like music or mathematics.  In this case I'm using images of the mysterious deep sea.”
