SHARON KOPRIVA

“During the first year of Covid, the egg became a personal symbol for me, of both fragility and survival. In the spring of 2020, I added a large nest to a painting in progress and painted a single egg inside. I knew immediately that this was speaking out about the isolation and fear that accompanied most of us. The world seemed to be swirling around me. People I knew were becoming ill and some died. I added bright green birds of hope to surround and protect my lone egg and devoted a month to building out the found-material nest around it.”

“The egg and its many symbols continued to intrigue me and its investigation has become part of this exhibition with many works included that explore its many meanings.”
